The department of Electronics & Communication Engineering came into existence in 1985 immediately when the institute was founded. It was started 4-year B.Tech degree programme in Electronics & Communication Engineering with an intake of 40 students which was subsequently raised to 180 over a period of time. It was started 2-year M.Tech programme with specialization "Communication Engineering & Signal Processing" in 2010 with an intake of 18.
